What You'll Experience

This is not a tour. This is a day in the life of a Beijinger who has agreed to take you along — to every meal, every neighborhood, every small ritual that fills an ordinary day in the world's most extraordinary city. It begins before 7 AM in a park where retired workers practice bagpipes alongside tai chi masters (yes, really), then moves to an underground canteen for congee and fried crullers eaten from a plastic stool. The day unfolds from there without a fixed itinerary — your companion is the itinerary. A morning in a hutong neighborhood where their grandmother lives.
